History of ICOPVS
Chairman International steering committee
Prof.Wolfgang Kiefer ( Germany)
(former Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Raman Spectroscopy)
Professor Vinod Rastogi, the renowned Vibrational Spectroscopy professional and academician is presently the Editor of Asian Journal of Physics .Earlier he was Professor of Physics in the Chaudhary Charan Singh University Campus ( CCS University) , Meerut, India and retired in June 2012. Professor V.K. Rastogi founded the ICOPVS conference series in 2006 in Meerut at CCS University , to celebrate the 65thBirthday of Prof W Kiefer, a well known Raman Spectroscopist , which evolved as a prominent Biennial international vibrational spectroscopy Conference series.
Founder
Professor Vinod Rastogi, the Founder of ICOPVS
It was subsequently hosted by Mar Ivanios College Trivandrum (two times-2008, 2014), Banaras Hindu University , Varanasi (2010) , Bishop Moore College, Mavelikara (2013), University of Lucknow (2016), Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai (2018), Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) Bangalore(2020), UGC-DAE Consortium for Science Research ( UGC-DAE CSR) Indore (2022), and Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology, Jena, Germany(2024).
The International Conference on Perspectives in Vibrational Spectroscopy (ICOPVS) brings together scientists from all disciplines of vibrational spectroscopy; mid-infrared, Raman, near infrared, chemometrics, non-linear Raman spectroscopy, surface enhanced Raman scattering,
vibrational circular dichroism, nanomaterials and terahertz.
The ICOPVS conferences are a premier international avenue of leading scientists of the world in the field of vibrational spectroscopy, for exchange of ideas, understanding and applying the different emerging spectroscopic techniques and methods of analysis, which provides excellent opportunity for participants to broaden their capabilities for interdisciplinary applications, far beyond their individual specializations.
These prestigious ICOPVS conferences have become dynamic academic platforms designed to nurture the participants towards new emerging areas of vibrational spectroscopy by providing scientists and researchers the opportunity to collaborate and interact with specialists in other sub-disciplines of vibrational spectroscopy and exchange ideas in order toadvance the field and improve its impact.Professor Vinod Rastogi was behind the organisation of each and every event mentioned above enabling the Conference Chairs, Organising Committees and host institutions with all possible support and encouragement to ensure the participation of scientists , researchers and institutions at national and international levels.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Professor Vinod Rastogi for his passionate role in shaping and building ICOPVS conferences over the past two decades. His tireless efforts, unwavering dedication, and visionary leadership have been the driving force behind the ICOPVS conferences flourishing growth and success.
Through his remarkable contributions, Professor Vinod Rastogi has played a unique role in elevating ICOPVS conferences as a premier international event in the field of Vibrational/Raman Spectroscopy. Through his selfless efforts he has fostered a community of scholars, researchers, and practitioners who enjoy coming together to share knowledge, ideas, and innovative best practices in scientific research.
We, the ICOPVS Scientific community sincerely appreciate Professor Vinod Rastogi’s selfless commitment to promoting academic excellence, innovation, and collaboration committing his life visionary fully dedicated to ICOPVS, Asian Journal of Physics and Indian Spectroscopy Society. His vision , mission and legacy will continue to inspire and motivate generations science researchers , young and old, as we move forward.
Thank you, Professor Vinod Rastogi for your exemplary services of dedication, love, mutual empowerment and leadership.
On behalf of the ICOPVS Scientific Community
Team ICOPVS, Asian Journal of Physics and Indian Spectroscopy Society
Dayawati Rastogi Lecture Award
Two Awards (Each of US $ 1000.00) under the title “Dayawati Rastogi Lecture Award” have been instituted by Professor Vinod Rastogi are awarded at every biennial ICOPVS conference by Asian Journal of Physics/Indian Spectroscopy Society.
Xth ICOPVS-2024 marks a significant milestone in the field of Vibrational Spectroscopy and is proud to have Prof. Wolfgang Kiefer as its Honorary Chairman. This renowed conference, founded by Prof. Vinod Rastogi in India, was organized in Europe for the first time and was hosted by the International Congress on Biophotonics (ICOB 2024)
Started as a dedicated academic initiative in the Department of Physics, Meerut University in the early years of the new millennium, under the leadership of Professor Vinod Rastogi and a team of academics from all over India ,with the wholehearted encouragement and support of Professor Wolfgang Kiefer (Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Raman Spectroscopy) ICOPVS emerged as a leading platform of Raman Spectroscopists from all over the world in 2006.With more than 50 renowned scientists of the world and 300 Indian researchers and students ,including Professor Wolfgang Kiefer (Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Raman Spectroscopy),

Dr Jurgen Popp ,sebastian Schlucker , Arnulf Materny ,Hartwig Schulz from Germany and many more from different parts of the world,ICOPVS 2006 became the first landmark International academic and research conference of Raman Spectroscopists hosted by the Raman Spectroscopy community from India. The Meerut ICOPVS 2006 unanimously came forward with the idea to encourage and promote the scientific research collaborations within Indian research groups and globally renowned research institutions and laboratories related to Raman Spectroscopy and applications through biennial ICOPVS conferences hosted by leading Raman Spectroscopy research groups of India.
The present decade (2020-2030) is very significant for the scientific world and India, as we are getting ready for well directed research excellence with novel Vibrational and Raman spectroscopic innovations ,as the world moves forward towards 100 years of Raman Spectroscopy in 2030.
The ICOPVS conferences typically rotates among the different regions of India, with ICOPVS 2008,2014 held in Thiruvananthapuram, KERALA, ICOPVS 2010 in Varanasi, India , ICOPVS 2012 in Mavelikara kerala,India, ICOPVS 2016 in Lucknow, India, ICOPVS 2018 in BARC , Mumbai, India,ICOPVS 2020 at JNCASR Banglore,ICOPVS 2022 UGC-DAE CSR Indore India and ICOPVS 2024 in Leibniz IPHT Jena,Germany . The past conferences have attracted between 500-700 participants from all over the world, UK, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, Poland, India, Korea, Canada, USA, Germany, Japan, France, China and Brazil, among others.
